MEND is a faith-based, community housing development organization that has worked tirelessly since 1969 to help meet a portion of the ever-increasing need for affordable housing in the Burlington County region of southern New Jersey.
We understand that many of our brothers and sisters – the elderly, the disabled, single-parent families, members of the regional work force – need a helping hand when it comes to securing a decent, safe, affordable place to call home in a region of the country where market-rate housing costs are quite high.
The good, decent, hard-working people we serve are not looking for a “hand-out”. Rather, they are looking for people of good will to offer them a “hand-up” – a chance to live in housing they can afford without having to skimp on food, clothing, medical care and other necessities. Whether young or old, single or married, healthy or not, they seek the chance to live with dignity in the many desirable communities that comprise our region. MEND’s long-standing mission is to use our vision, experience and expertise to maintain and expand the local supply of affordable housing. We acknowledge and accept our responsibility to be “our brother’s keeper” when it comes to the provision of affordable shelter.
